Welcome To

Our massage has a purpose that goes beyond relaxation. Here at Shiatsu & Massage Center, we see our service as a way to help people achieve personal goals by turning tight muscles that hold you back into soft muscles that will let you move forward. The Hawaiians have a concept for this: “Imi ola”, which means to seek your highest purpose.

In order to enhance the healing process, we serve organic detox tea with every therapeutic massage provided to clients here in Waikiki, Honolulu, HI.

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu is a Japanese style of massage with a few different schools of thought.  Ours is based on continuous direct pressure along muscle attachments at bones, rhythmic compression, and, depending on the client’s preference, stretching.  The stretching includes range of motion and a mix of stretching with compression.  Massage oil is not used, so you don’t need to undress.  The massage is provided over soft clothes or towel, without friction.  It is not a rub, it is a direct pressure into tight spots, in a whole body sequence.

Hawaiian Lomi Lomi

Lomi Lomi is a traditional massage of Hawaii that is intended to heal. Traditionally, the practitioner requests permission from a spiritual source for healing to flow from that source to the client.  From there, the practitioner needs to maintain an intent to benefit the person receiving the treatment.  With that positive intent, a Deep Tissue massage is usually provided.  The style of massage varies from Hawaiian family, but always begins in prayer for permission, then usually includes a focus on the stomach area, and then usually includes a powerful deep tissue massage.  For a truly traditional experience, you’ll have to seek out a Lomi Lomi Kahu, who will meet you, and guide you through a more elaborate week-long treatment.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue is normally a strong massage, but the intense pressure is not the point. The ‘point’ is to loosen up knots in the deeper layers of muscle and ‘fascia’ or connective tissues.  This can be provided either as a whole body tune up, or, a very specific, issue focused massage.

Reflexology & Foot Massage

A foot massage can be soothing or very point focused. For the soothing lotiony foot rubs, we start with a hot moist towel to clean and prepare your feet. Sensitive feet need repetitive, gentle pulling, pushing, twisting, with medium to light pressure.  For those who can handle the pressure point style of reflexology, or who are willing to try, get ready for some good feeling pain at all of those points, and expect to feel highly refreshed right after.  Don’t arrive with muddy feet, it’s not a foot bath!  The hands are also full of a surprising amount of tension so hand reflexology is also recommended.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is usually requested when someone simply wants a ‘non pampering’ massage.  However, in reality, there are a variety of ways to provide sports massage.  It depends on your needs.  Are you running a race tomorrow?  Did you run a marathon this morning?  Pre event and post sports massages are completely different.  Most often, people are not in either of those two categories, and are instead just looking for some pain relief for a chronic ache, or, training soreness.  The massage will be tailored to your needs, utilizing more physical therapy style massage techniques, including assisted stretching with trigger point massage.

Aroma Therapy

Adding aromatherapy to your massage adds the wondrous scents and healing properties of essential oils.  Whether lavender or Doterra Deep Blue, your massage will feel and smell a whole lot better.

Dream Massage:  A massage from two therapists

Receiving a massage from two therapists at the same time is a special treat.  Sometimes called      four hand massage, this indeed doubles the benefit, so long as the two are working in concert with each other. Try it for 15 or 30 minutes; get an hour’s benefit in half the time!

Enhance your 30 minute or longer massage with:

Hawaiian CBD gel: $25

Based on experience, therapists have observed that providing two CBD gel massages a day relieves pain from their own wrists and elbows. We believe CBD is effective in relieving deeply rooted body pain from our own experiences.

Phytoceane Self Heating Mud: $25

This mud, sourced from France, wrapped in foil and cloth, is placed under areas where you feel soreness. You can feel the mud percolate as it ‘self heats.’ It stays in the area for about 20 to 60 minutes providing anti-inflammatory benefits.

Hot Stone: $20

The warm stones can be added to either Lomi Lomi, Relaxation, or Perfect Balance massage. Here, warm flat stones are placed over a towel on the key points of the body. The added weight and warmth will enhance comfort. Smooth warm stones are then used to actually massage you with and the sensation of smooth, gliding heat in your sore muscles is heavenly.  Minimum length:  45 minutes.
